Heather Rae Young returned to Netflix this weekend in the hotly-anticipated second season of Selling Sunset, but one thing she never expected was to be on a hit TV show. For Heather, arriving at this moment is the culmination of years of hard work following a successful career transition. And that fruits of her success are finally hitting home.

"Right now, I think it actually is just hitting me where my life has taken me. I was always in the modeling world, and I did some acting and some commercials, and I started in real estate about 2015," Heather told House Beautiful in a recent interview. "I never expected to be on a hit reality show on Netflix—and especially getting two seasons. I mean, we were so shocked and excited to get a season one."

Selling Sunset entered the Top 10 on Netflix this weekend. The road from growing up in a mountain town in California that was so small it had no stop lights to selling luxury real estate in Hollywood Hills is a surreal one. Heather didn't know what career she wanted as a young girl, but she did know one thing. She wanted to do "more."

"I never thought I'd be filming a reality show at 32 years old," Heather told House Beautiful. "So it's just like really surreal for me coming from such a small town, and being very sheltered, and not really knowing much about the industry or knowing much about even real estate to being where I'm at now. I think it's just now hitting me."

When Heather did decide to transition into real estate, success quickly followed her natural talent.

"I think as I started getting older, I knew that I couldn't be in that industry forever, and I wanted to transition into something else," she said. "And I had some friends that were in the industry that were agents, and they said that they would mentor me."

Heather realized that was already well-connected through through the modeling and acting worlds, and she was able to build strong relationships with others. After working with a mentor for several months, Heather never looked back.

"I got my first and second deal within a week of each other, and the first deal was $7.2 million. The other one was $1.5 million," she recalled. "So I think after getting those deals I was like, 'Wow, OK. I can do this.'"

But that success did not come without an incredible amount of hard work.

"I had never learned about real estate. My parents never taught me about buying and selling homes. I wasn't around it growing up, so for me it was a foreign language," Heather said. "So when I studied and had to take the test and started learning about real estate, it was tough for me. I had to work very hard in the industry to get where I am today."

Once again, Heather's hard work is paying off. News broke over the weekend that season three of Selling Sunset has already been filmed.
