Caregiver accused of killing young girl gets bail

A woman charged with manslaughter in the death of a young girl has been released on bail.

Tammy Goforth appeared in a Regina courtroom Thursday where she was read the conditions of her release.

She and her husband Kevin Goforth are each charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Police said the Goforths were the the children's caregivers, not their parents.

Four-year-old June Alexis Dawn Goforth died in hospital August 2, after what police described as injuries caused by neglect and abuse.

Her two-year-old sister was also taken to hospital to be treated for similar injuries — she has since been released.

The conditions of Tammy Goforth's bail state that she cannot leave her residence or the city without permission.

She also cannot be in contact with minors or have any contact with her husband.

Kevin Goforth's bail hearing is scheduled for Friday morning in Regina.
