Carla Bruni was among the famous faces to appear on the Cannes red carpet this weekend.

Carla Bruni wowed in a sparkly lilac gown on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday evening.

The former French first lady, 54, stunned in the cowl neck, strappy floor-length dress to attend the screening of film Triangle Of Sadness at the event in south France.

She finished off her look with a statement necklace and silver heels, while keeping her make-up simple and brunette locks poker-straight.

Joining the Italian singer and actress was Hofit Golan, who wore a stunning lemon yellow gown.

The Israeli influencer, 36, kept things understated with the rest of her ensemble – wearing her hair up and choosing nude heels.

Meanwhile, Lady Victoria Hervey opted for an all-black sheer ensemble, featuring a long, ruffled train, for the evening.

The head-turning dress worn by the former model and socialite, 45, was created by designer Jad Adam Paris.

It comes after Anne Hathaway made her debut appearance at Cannes on Thursday, in a sparkly white floor-length dress featuring voluminous sleeves.

Speaking to People about her sartorial inspiration, the 39-year-old actress – who is starring in new film Armageddon Time – revealed that she had looked to previous fashion at the festival before settling on the Armani Prive gown.

She said: "I've noticed certain things you can never go wrong with.

“You never go wrong with a little sparkle. You never go wrong with something that looks chic and glamorous, but feels very, very comfortable.

“I noticed that a lot of my favourite actresses had their first-hand experience wearing all white. So that was what I did.”
