Cash, equipment reportedly stolen during early-morning burglary at Bellingham barbershop

Owners of a Bellingham barbershop reported a burglary at the business that included the theft of business equipment and thousands of dollars in cash.

The burglar broke into Barber Shack at 2500 Cedarwood Ave. through a back window around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday and rummaged through the business, staying away from the front of the store near the large windows, according to owner Jared Jones Valentine.

A suspected burglar was caught on camera wearing a green beanie and blue mask during a break-in at Barber Shack in Bellingham on Dec. 18.

Jones said the burglar also damaged personal items, including turning on a hot foam machine, causing it to burn out and break before the break-in was discovered.

No suspect has been identified, according to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department, who suggested related charges might include second-degree burglary, second-degree theft and third-degree malicious mischief.
