Cat Covered In Concrete Found Curled Up On Doorstep

A cat found covered in concrete on a doorstep has been saved after its fur was completely shaved off.

The two-year-old ginger tom, who has been given the name Grant, was discovered by Faye Richards outside her home in Withywood in Bristol.

Because the cat was covered from head to tail in concrete, the 39-year-old medical receptionist didn’t even know it was an animal at first, mistaking it for a bundle of parcel tape.

The poor cat was so covered in concrete that it couldn’t even open its eyes. It is thought the animal may have been the victim of a cruel prank.

Mrs Richards brought the cat to a nearby vet, where he had his fur shaved and the concrete combed out of his coat.

“It was only when I got closer I realised it was a cat,” she said.

“The concrete had started to go rock hard on his back, but his belly was still soaking wet and he could barely open his eyes.

“It was all over its face and it was absolutely solid. He couldn’t even move. He was crying a lot and shivering. He was really cold.

“Most cats if you tried to pick them up wouldn’t let you but I was able to just pick him up and cuddle him even though I’d never seen him in my life.”

Mrs Richard, a mother-of-two, has three cats of her own.

“I don’t know if it was deliberate or not but I can’t think of anywhere round here where there is cement for him to fall into.

“You would hate to think of something doing this intentionally but you do hear of it happening.

“I just hope he is going to be okay.”

The cat is staying with the vet and is on his way to making a full recovery.
