Cat shot with crossbow on Vancouver Island

Police say the cat's injury is believed to be life-threatening.

Mounties in the Vancouver Island community of Langford are investigating after a cat was shot with a crossbow.

In a news release, West Shore RCMP said a black-and-white cat named Ozzy went missing from its home on Jacklin Road on Sept. 30.

The cat returned home Saturday with a crossbow arrow sticking out of its neck, the release said.

Police say the extent of the injury is unclear but it is believed to be life-threatening. Treatment is expected to cost around $1,000.
