A section of the Cataraqui Trail will be closed temporarily in Chaffey's Lock beginning next week.
The Cataraqui Conservation authority will close a portion of the trail because of construction work to repair the bridge.
The section of trail will be closed and construction is set to begin on Monday, Nov. 22; it is expected to last until Friday Dec. 3.
The bridge will be re-decked to provide a more consistent and safer surface for trail users, said Cataraqui Conservation officials in a Nov. 19 media release.
According to the conservation authority, the maintenance will mean the Cataraqui Trail will be inaccessible from Indian Lake Road to Marina Road. However, there is a detour route for trail users.
The detour route will start at Indian Lake Road, but will shift onto Opinicon Road, over the locks where it changes to Chaffey's Lock Road, and left onto Marina Road, where it will meet the Cataraqui Trail again.
There will be appropriate signs and barricades will be at the section of closed trails to help guide trail users around the construction site.
Cataraqui Conservation is asking users to abide by the signs and any instructions given by the work crew, adding that users are also advised to use extra caution on the detour as the route goes along a busier roadway.
