CBC makes big gains in radio ratings across Saskatchewan

Radio listeners in Saskatchewan are tuning in to the public broadcaster in greater numbers than have been seen in almost two decades.

According to the spring 2015 survey from Numeris, which includes ratings across 14 English-language CBC markets, the Morning Edition in Regina has risen to first choice among morning radio listeners for the first time ever. The top spot had previously been held by music station Z99.

The Morning Edition scored an 18.1 per cent share of listeners, which is up 4.1 share points from the previous year and represents the show's highest rating since 1997.

Saskatoon Morning also saw major gains with a record share of 11.8 on the FM dial — up more than three points since last fall and second highest placement in the market. The show is only about 18 months old.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan Weekend held onto its No. 1 spot with a 28.7 share in Regina and 24.5 share in Saskatoon on Saturday, plus a 26.1 share in Regina and a 25.7 share in Saskatoon on Sunday.

Both Regina and Saskatoon came in second place for all-day listening Monday to Friday 5 a.m. CST to 1 a.m. CST.
