CBC Radio maintains top spot in Winnipeg market

Six local English shows broadcast by CBC Radio have edged out the competition on Winnipeg's radiowaves.

The latest round of ratings from Numeris, based on the company's spring 2017 diary radio survey, were released Thursday and list CBC Radio One with a 14.5 per cent share of the overall Winnipeg market.

It's the fourth-consecutive ratings book where CBC Manitoba's programming has bumped previous longtime leader CJOB into the second spot.

Information Radio with host Marcy Markusa edged out the rest for the top weekday morning spot with a 21.8 per cent share of the market, up from 16.6 per cent last fall.

CBC Manitoba's Radio Noon with host Marjorie Dowhos also captured the top spot during the noon-hour slot, securing 10.7 per cent of the market, compared to 9.2 in the fall of 2016.

Up to Speed with Ismaila Alfa tied for the No. 1 spot during weekday afternoons with 10.8 per cent (up from 9.5 per cent last fall).

Meanwhile the Weekend Morning Show with Nadia Kidwai beat out other weekend morning shows, charting a 25.9 per cent and 28.6 per cent share for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Unreserved with host Rosanna Deerchild took the 5 p.m. slot on Sunday with a 8.8 share.
