CBC's live Canada Day coverage: What you need to know

When it comes to live coverage of Canada's 149th birthday, CBC News has you covered.

Here's a rundown on what to watch and where to find it.

Peter Mansbridge Q&A

Ever wanted to ask Peter Mansbridge a question?

Before CBC's Canada Day live special, our chief correspondent hosted a live Canada-themed Q&A from Parliament Hill.

Go to the CBC News Facebook page to watch a replay of the Q&A.

Party on the Hill

Mansbridge will host our special coverage of Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET. He'll be joined by Power & Politics' Rosemary Barton and arts reporter Tashauna Reid.

The celebrations will include performances from Metric, Alex Cuba, Coleman Hell, Coeur de Pirate and more.

You can watch live on CBC News Network, CBC Television or here on CBCNews.ca.

If you miss it, the special will air a second time on CBC News Network at 5 p.m. ET. And you can tune into the evening show featuring more musical performances and fireworks starting at 9 p.m. on CBC TV, and 8 p.m. ET on CBC.ca and CBC Radio 2.

Remembering Beaumont-Hamel

July 1 is also a sombre day for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

This Canada Day marks the 100th anniversary of the First World War battle at Beaumont-Hamel, France, in which hundreds of young men from the Newfoundland Regiment died, changing the province's future forever.

CBC Newfoundland and Labrador has a live special called Beaumont-Hamel 100th from 9 a.m. to 1:30 pm ET on its local television channel, YouTube and CBC Newfoundland and Labrador. It all begins with a Ceremony of Remembrance at the National War Memorial in St. John's followed by a commemoration event featuring Princess Anne and Lt.-Gov. Frank F. Fagan.

Part of this special will also air nationally on CBC News Network from 11 to 11:30 a.m. ET.

Canada 150

What's your story? Starting today, CBC News will be asking Canadians that question as we prepare to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederation next year.

Already we've collected dozens of well-known Canadians telling their stories. You can see them and share them at What is your Canada?
