CCTV Shows Moment That Delivery Driver Appears To Drop Off Phone Before ‘Stealing’ It

An angry iPhone customer has revealed CCTV footage he claims shows a delivery driver pretending to drop off his new smartphone – before stealing it.

Bradley Stocker, 39, was puzzled when he received a message from courier company DPD informing him that his iPhone had been delivered - despite no one knocking at his door.

DPD’s website even stated that the parcel had been dropped off with a neighbour, but Bradley found none of his neighbours had spoken to a delivery driver.

When one neighbour offered to check his CCTV footage, they discovered the moment the delivery driver got out of his van, but stopped at the edge of the house’s drive and left with the parcel under his arm.

Bradley, from Ealing, West London, says that the driver can be seen using his GPS to register the address, but makes no attempt to go up the drive - and instead steals the phone.

He said: ‘I’m really, really annoyed at what the CCTV shows – I think it proves the courier stole the phone. It makes me so mad. I’ve never had anything stolen from me before, especially not so brazenly.

‘The driver clearly gets out of his van and comes over to my house but stops as he gets to the drive.

‘He uses his device to do something and then leaves – without even attempting to knock. I think he was logging that he had attending the address and using his GPS to show he was actually there.

‘However the footage clearly shows he made no attempt to see if anyone was in the house. I was sat there the whole time waiting.

‘I think he did it on purpose to steal the phone as he probably guessed what it was since the packaging is probably quite obvious in terms of size and weight.

Furious: Bradley Stock says his iPhone was stolen by a delivery driver. (Caters)

'From the laid-back way he does it, I would guess it is not his first time and would not be surprised if he has stolen lots of items using this nasty trick.

'I’m just really pleased I got hold of this footage as I hope this shows what he is up to and stops it happening to anyone else.’

Bradley reported the incident on January 29 - but has been left without a phone as his supplier was unable to send another until DPD confirms that the lad one had been stolen.

After alerting the firm to the issue, he was informed that the delivery driver claimed the parcel was left with a 55-year-old neighbour, who was Asian.

But Bradley claims he has no neighbours that match this description and the tracking system stated it was left with a woman.

He added: ‘I think he should be sacked on the spot for this. I’ve been left without a phone I was relying on receiving almost two weeks ago. That’s a long time.

‘He clearly does not care about the affect his actions have on other people.’

A DPD spokesman confirmed that they were investigating the alleged incident.

He said: ‘DPD has been voted the UK’s favourite parcel delivery company three years running in two separate customer satisfaction polls by Which? and Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.

‘We deliver over 200 million parcels a year and incidents such as this are incredibly rare. DPD take the security of our customers’ parcels very seriously indeed and a full investigation is currently underway.’
