Celine Dion shares stunning 'Purple Rain' cover for Spirit Day

Celine Dion performed a cover for a cause in honour of yesterday’s GLAAD Spirit Day. The Canadian singer delivered a stunning rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” in support of LGBTQ youth and anti-bullying initiatives.

Celine shared a video of the emotionally-charged performance on her Facebook page. The star, wearing a one-shoulder jumpsuit and gorgeous jewels, belted out the tune while she interacted with her talented band. She captioned the video, “Let it rain purple on #SpiritDay as we take a stand together against bullying, and to support LGBTQ youth!”

Spirit Day is the largest, most visible anti-bullying campaign in the world and allows everyone to show solidarity with LGBTQ youth. It’s an opportunity for celebrities to stand up with their diverse fan base and show their support.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer is known for being part of many social awareness movements, and that’s what her fans love most about her! One super fan commented, “Love this strong, beautiful woman and all she stands for. She works tirelessly for her chosen charities,” while another gushed, “This is one of the things that [I] admire a lot about Celine Dion: she’s such a great human being.”

Many other stars, like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Whoopi Goldberg and Nicole Kidman, have participated in this initiative, sharing photos of themselves wearing purple to raise awareness for the annual celebration. Christina, 36, shared an older photo of herself in a purple outfit with the caption, “Every day should be #SpiritDay! Go purple & stand against bullying. Show your support for LGBTQ youth #CantHoldUsDown”.
