Chadwick Boseman's £1.89 million estate split between wife and parents
Watch: Chadwick Boseman's estate to split between widow and parents
Chadwick Boseman’s estate is to be divided equally between his widow and parents following the actor's untimely death.
The Black Panther star passed away in August 2020, aged 43, after a private battle with colon cancer without leaving a will.
According to legal documents, he left behind a $2.5 million fortune (£2.06m) after taxes, funeral, legal, and lawyer fees were taken out.
His widow Taylor Simone Ledward, 31, who he had been dating since 2016 is said to have asked that the late star's estate be split between her and her in-laws, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.
Ledward was put in charge of handling the actor's finances after his passing.
In filings, seen by American celebrity site, Radar Online, she asked to be reimbursed for funeral costs, including $9,500 (£7,509) for the venue, $10,000 (£8220) for the funeral service, and $1,275 (£1048) for the flowers.
She also requested $22,000 (£18,085) to buy mausoleum crypts for Boseman’s parents to be laid next to him in South Carolina where he was born and raised.
The court granted Ledward a reimbursement $47,000 (£38,636) of the request amount.

The announcement of his death in 2020 shocked the world leading to an outpouring of well-wishes globally.
Boseman's family said in a statement that he 'died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.'
Boseman also left behind brothers Kevin and Derrick Boseman.
Last year, Miss Ledward honoured the tragic star in a speech at the Golden Globes where he received a posthumous award for his role in the Netflix drama Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
"He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices," she said.
“He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you, you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history.”
She continued: “I don’t have his words but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those that we love. So thank you, HFPA, for this opportunity to do exactly that.”
