Chaleur Hospital's 4th floor closed to visitors

Visits to the fourth floor of the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst have been temporarily suspended because a large number of patients and staff are experiencing gastroenteritis symptoms.

Families of patients in the palliative care unit are still allowed to visit.

Hospital management says the suspension will remain in effect until further notice.

People with symptoms of gastroenteritis — vomiting and diarrhea — are asked to avoid visiting patients at the hospital until at least 48 hours after the symptoms have disappeared.
