“The Challenge” Champion Jordan Wiseley Says the Season 40 Cast Had 'the Worst Treatment We've Ever Received'
"It’s taken a toll,” the 'Real World: Portland' alum said
Jordan Wiseley has some thoughts about how the cast of The Challenge: Battle of the Eras was treated.
In a video posted to his Instagram account on Sunday, July 14, the 33-year-old longtime reality television star alleged “the worst treatment we’ve ever received as a cast” during the filming of the 40th season of the MTV reality hit.
“Less than a month away and we HAVE to get in shape!!” he captioned the video. "When I say 'a challenge house is one of the worst environments to be in' I’m not exaggerating. This one was by far the worst treatment we’ve ever received as a cast and it’s taken a toll."
In the video, Wiseley says viewers of the series may think that cast members “work out all the time” and “turn into savages,” but he claims it’s actually the opposite.
“The entire time you’re in there, you are losing shape. We are treated like s–-, we sleep like s---, we are fed like s---, our schedules are dogs---. Twenty-hour days like nothin',” Wiseley alleges while sitting outdoors, talking to the camera. "So we just lose shape. It doesn't matter how long you're there."
MTV has not responded to a request for comment.
Fans first met the pro race car driver when he was on The Real World: Portland in 2013. From there, he moved on to The Challenge, where he has competed on nine seasons and won four: Battle of the Exes II, Dirty 30, War of the Worlds 2 and World Championship.
Wiseley will be representing Era 3 on season 40 of The Challenge when it premieres next month. Several of his fellow Battle of the Eras competitors commented on the Instagram post.
"I lost so much weight and cardio and strength!" said Kyland Young. Theo Campbell wrote, "I didn’t even get a pair of shoes that fitted for the whole time!!” and later added, "I lost 23lbs."

Laurel Stucky, who has competed on eight season of The Challenge and won twice, wrote, “WE DECAY,” and Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio commented, "All meals must be made under a staircase… Harry Potter style."
As Wiseley’s caption went on, he changed his tune, and instead of focusing on the treatment of cast members, he focused on getting back in shape. It’s time to “work together to get off the couch and [get] going again!” he wrote.
“I’m going to post each evening about what I am doing the next morning; FOLLOW ALONG! Modify as needed but don’t just do nothing!! ... ACCOUNTABILITY!! I need yall and yall need me, let’s do it!!."
On Monday, July 15, Wiseley stuck to his word and shared content on his Instagram Stories of himself working toward his fitness goals.
In one video, he told his followers about his almost hour-long run. The following video showed his first meal of the day, which consisted of “3 large eggs, butter, salt [and] Sriracha.”

When Wiseley previously commented on the conditions on The Challenge to the L.A. Times last year, production company Bunim-Murray shared the following statement: “Since it debuted in 1998, The Challenge has developed extensive production and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of our participants, and everyone involved in the production. We’re constantly evolving these measures to remain best in class — which is one of the many reasons why we’ve seen competitors like Jordan return year after year.”
The Challenge: Battle of the Eras premieres Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
