Chappell Roan Says She’s “Voting For F*cking Kamala,” But No VP Endorsement & “F*ck Trump, For F*cking Real”
Another day and another video from Chappell Roan about the presidential election.
The “Red Wine Supernova” singer got out of bed Wednesday and took to social media to further clarify her thoughts on endorsements for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, and actually voting.

And, in a very close election where the youth vote and influential endorsements are the partial coin of the realm, it was pretty blunt and nuanced at the same time.
“I just woke up to, like, people just skewing it even more,” Roan said of the reaction to her no endorsement post of Tuesday. “Endorsing and voting are completely different. I don’t agree with a lot of what is going on with, like, policies. Like, obviously, fuck the policies on the right, but also fuck some of the policies on the left. That’s why I can’t endorse.”
“I’m not gonna settle for what the options are that are in front of me, and you are not gonna make me feel bad for that,” Roan added today with a critique of both candidates and their positions, “So yeah, I’m voting for fucking Kamala, but I’m not settling for what has been offered, because that’s questionable.”
Drilling down, Roan also said in the four-minute video: “So yeah, there are huge problems on both. You know what is right and wrong and so do I. Fuck Trump for fucking real, but fuck some of the shit that has gone down in the Democratic party that has failed people like me and you — and, more so, Palestine, and more so, every marginalized community in the world.”
She took her critics on directly too: “And I’m not gonna let this narrative of, like, me playing both sides… No, no, no, this is not me playing both sides. This is me questioning both sides because this is what we have in front of us. So if you look at my statement, and you’re still like, ‘She’s just playing both sides, like she doesn’t wanna …’ No, you’re not getting it. I am critiquing both sides because they’re both so fucked up.”
Yesterday, Roan wasn’t quite so forthright about what contender she was marking her ballot for.
“Hear it from my mouth, if you’re still wondering,” Roan declared on TikTok on September 24. “No, I’m not voting for Trump and yes, I will always question those in power and those making decisions over other people. And I will stand up for what’s right and what I believe in. And like, it’s always at the forefront of my project.”
While not carrying the heft of the Taylor Swift endorsement that the ‘Fortnight’ singer gave the Vice President right after the September 10 ABC debate with Trump, a formal thumbs up from Roan could prove pivotal.
As Harris racks up celebrity and high profile backers, the polls still find the race basically neck-and-neck with 41 days to go. So, Democrats are hungry for anything that can move the needle, especially in the battleground states among often disengaged younger voters — and chart topper Roan is exactly that kind of needle mover
