Charlize Theron Just Shared a Rare Photo With Her Daughters
Oscar-winning actor Charlize Theron doesn't typically post pictures of her kids, but when National Daughters Day came around, she just couldn't resist.
The Old Guard star took to Instagram on Friday to share four photos of her two daughters, five-year-old August and eight-year-old Jackson. “My heart belongs to these two beautiful powerhouses. I will never be the same. Happy #NationalDaughtersDay ❤️,” she wrote on the post, which already has more than half a million likes. Celebrities including director Ava DuVernay, Lilly Singh, Chelsea Handler, Awkwafina, and January Jones commented on the post with heart emoji and well-wishes.
While Theron keeps her family life relatively private, she's been open about the ways she is supporting and raising her two girls. In 2019 she revealed that Jackson is transgender. “I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive,” Theron told the Daily Mail at the time. “My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be, and I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that.”
She's also intentional in talking to her daughters about racism. In July she told People that both of her girls are aware of the current movement against police brutality and are eager to get involved.
Theron also spoke about the need for more Black stories and building a more inclusive entertainment industry. “I’m a mom to two small Black girls and I want them to grow up in a world where they see themselves, where there is an awareness that they can be whomever they want to be because they see it,” the Bombshell star said on Variety's The Big Ticket podcast in July 2020, per People. “I want to surround them in a world where they feel they belong and they can shine and they can live to their full potential.”
