Chelsea vs Liverpool: Premier League prediction, TV channel, live stream, team news, time, h2h

Chelsea host Liverpool in an intriguing Premier League battle on Sunday with both teams looking to make an early statement of intent.

The two sides enter having won their respective opening day fixtures, with Chelsea beating Brighton 3-1, while Liverpool edged past newly-promoted Leeds 4-3 in a thrilling affair.

Neither team were entirely convincing, however, with Kepa Arrizabalaga's blushes saved by a Reece James thunderbolt, while Liverpool secured the win with an 88th-minute penalty, Mohamed Salah's third of the game.

Both managers could be set to hand out debuts, with Chelsea summer signing Thiago Silva fit to play, while Liverpool are expected to announce the signing of Thiago Alcantara on Friday.

Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers will be able to stream the match online via the website and SkyGo app.

Team news

Frank Lampard has a number of injury concerns ahead of Sunday's crucial home fixture against Liverpool.

New signing Hakim Ziyech remains absent with a knee injury, alongside Christian Pulisic, who suffered a setback in training after returning from a hamstring injury.

Billy Gilmour remains a long-term absentee, while the match may come too early for Ben Chilwell, who is continuing in hs recovery from a foot injury.

Silva could be in line for his Chelsea debut, however, and Lampard will also be boosted by the return of Mateo Kovacic, who is back after serving a suspension against Brighton.

Timo Werner and Jorginho are also expected to be fit after suffering with cramp and a deal leg against Brighton respectively.

As for Klopp, the only long-term absentee in his Liverpool squad is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Summer signing Kostas Tsimikas has returned to training after reportedly testing positive for coronavirus, while Xherdan Shaqiri has also recently returned to training.

The match may come too soon for Thiago, depending on whether he signs on time or not.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool

Though neither side looked at their best on the opening weekend, I'm predicting a narrow Liverpool win in an early statement.

Having completed seven signings this summer, Lampard has a host of new additions to embed into his team - it could take a bit of time to gel completely.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are now close to their first major coup this summer in Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The midfielder looks exactly what they need to freshen up the midfield, and though he may not play on Sunday, I think they'll just edge it.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

It's Liverpool who have been the more successful of the two in this fixture historically, winning 81 of their 186 meetings, as opposed to Chelsea's 41, alongside 64 draws.

Liverpool did the Premier League double over Chelsea, including a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge, but it was the Blues who were emerged victorious in their FA Cup fifth-round tie.
