Chevy Chase Is a Grandpa! Daughter Emily Welcomes First Baby with Alex Baglieri

The comedian and actor announced on Friday that his daughter Emily has welcomed her first baby

Chevy Chase is a grandpa!

On Thursday, Aug. 8, the comedian's daughter Emily, 35, announced on Instagram that she welcomed her first baby, a daughter named Ivy Jay Baglieri, on Thursday, Aug. 1, with her partner, Alex Baglieri.

The celebratory milestone makes the Christmas Vacation star, 80, an official grandfather.

Sharing a sweet photo of her baby girl's feet, the new mom shared the exciting news, writing, "💕 Ivy Jay Baglieri 💕 08.01.2024."

Back in March, the Saturday Night Live alum shared his excitement for Emily on Instagram, initially announcing Emily's pregnancy.

“I can't wait to be a Grandad!” the comedy star wrote alongside a photo of himself, his daughter and her partner. “Congrats to my daughter @em_chases and @alex.baglieri ❤️.”

Although the Chase family is private about many other details of their personal life, the actor and comedian has always been candid about his support for his three daughters, whom he shares with his third and current wife, Jayni.

Chevy and Jayni tied the knot back in June 1982 after nearly two years of dating. In the decades since their nuptials, the couple welcomed their daughters — Cydney, Caley and Emily — and Jayni became stepmom to Chevy's son, Bryan Perkins, from a previous relationship.

Earlier in March, Chevy, his wife and all three of their daughters opened up to Bedford & New Canaan Magazine about parenthood and how important their family is to each other.

“We were married in 1982 at our house in Pacific Palisades,” Jayni told the magazine as the pair shared photos of their Bedford, Conn., home. “Chevy was absolutely smitten with each of our daughters, and he’s been a super loving and devoted father.”

“Chevy and I have had an amazing 44 years,” she added. “We’ve had lots of extraordinary friends and we’ve met a lot of high-profile people, but it’s our three fabulous daughters that matter most to us. And, hopefully, we’ve had a positive impact on the community and the world around us.”

“My dad is the funniest and most generous and loving person I know,” Emily told the magazine. “He has a huge heart and everything he does is for us, his daughters, and our mom — who he has been completely infatuated with since 1980. We truly couldn’t ask for a better dad.”
