Blackhawks' Keith and Toews get in full-blown scrap at practice
The Chicago Blackhawks are on a five-game winning streak but you wouldn’t guess so after two of their veteran stalwarts got into a mid-practice tussle on Tuesday.
Initially reported by Mark Lazarus of The Athletic, captain Jonathan Toews and defenceman Duncan Keith got in a full-blown scrap during morning skate ahead of tuesday’s game versus the Florida Panthers.
The jersey was torn off of Keith’s back and they needed assistant coach Sheldon Brookbank to break it up.
The tail end of what appeared to be a, um, physical disagreement between Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith.

A full video of the scrap has not yet surfaced, but the conflict appears to have been short lived.
“Just a little friendly wrestling,” Toews told reporters. “We’re ready to go. It’s a big game tonight. I think the whole point of morning skate is to get going and we’re ready now.”
Former Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville will be back at the United Center for the first time since his firing on Nov. 6, 2018 and the team is clearly in a mood to make a statement.
The Blackhawks look to make it six straight and inch them closer to playoff position. They currently sit just three points out with a 24-20-6 record this season.
