Boy, 3, suffers life-threatening injuries after car hits pole in Toronto

Toronto police say a child suffered life-threatening injuries after a car hit a pole near Avenue Road and Eglinton Avenue West early Saturday.

The child was transported after the crash at Avenue Road and Roselawn Avenue to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. A man suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

Toronto paramedics told CBC News they were called to the scene at 8:10 a.m. Two of three occupants in the car were taken to hospital.

Paramedics said the child is a three-year-old boy. Const. David Hopkinson told CBC News that police have learned the child was not properly restrained.

Earlier today acting Staff Sgt. Sach Biring of Toronto Police Traffic Services said police are looking for witnesses who may have been in a second vehicle.

Roads in the area that were closed for the police investigation have been reopened. Police said they assisted with the emergency run to the hospital.
