Chinatown shooting victims remembered at vigil

About 100 people gathered Saturday night to light candles and honour the memories of two young men who were gunned down last weekend in Chinatown.

Quinn Taylor, 29, and David Michael Eminess, 26, were killed when gunfire broke out early Sunday morning outside New Ho King restaurant on Spadina Ave.

Police believe the pair may have been targeted, but do not suspect the shooting was gang-related.

Three others were injured in the shooting. Nobody has been arrested.

"We're just here in memory of them," Jennifer, who didn't want to give her last name, told CBC News at the vigil, where people laid flowers, lit candles, wrote messages and comforted each other.

Asked if she had a message for those responsible, Jennifer asked that they turn themselves in.

Eminess leaves behind a wife, Isabelle, and a daughter, 18-month-old Kiyara. He came to Canada six years ago from Trinidad and worked odd jobs while going to school. He was also working to get Canadian citizenship.

Taylor also leaves behind a young daughter, not yet two years old, his mother told CBC News.
