Student’s Brilliant Invention For Avoiding His Roommates’ Second-Hand Smoke

A Chinese student has invented an intriguing device designed to help him escape the fumes from his roommates’ smoking.

The contraption draws fresh air into the room via a small electric fan attached to the bars above the room door. This then funnels down a tube of bin bags into a sort of cardboard box helmet.

The student is then able to study in a more fragrant environment - albeit with a box on his head.

Will it catch on? The invention in full (Weibo/Shandianzhililiang)

The man from Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, posted pictures of his creation on Weibo, a Chinese Twitter/Facebook hybrid.

Global News reports that the 25-year-old student, known online as Shandianzhililiang, said: “I got unlucky and was assigned a room with four chain smoking roommates. For someone who doesn’t smoke, this is hell.”

Sadly, the device comes with its limitations. “You can’t really use it in winter, or it will freeze your face,” Shandiandeliliang warns.
