Chipotle is bringing back carne asada to its menu — here’s how you can try it early

Carne asada is making a return to Chipotle restaurants across the U.S., the company announced Tuesday — and there’s a way for Chipotle fans to try it early.

The premium steak option first hit restaurants at the end of 2019, and it was the fastest-selling new protein launch in Chipotle’s history, the company said in a news release.

Carne asada will return to restaurants for a limited time starting Sept. 28, but Chipotle rewards members can get their hands on it a little earlier.

Rewards members will be granted exclusive access to carne asada on Sept. 22 and 23 online and through the Chipotle app, the company said.

Not a rewards member? Not a problem!

Chipotle is also rolling out a special digital-only menu that allows all fans early access. Anyone can order carne asada online or through the app between Sept. 23 and 27 — before it returns to in-restaurant menus, according to the company.

“To bring back Carne Asada to our menu, we underwent an extensive vetting process to find more suppliers that meet our stringent Food with Integrity standards,” Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, said in the release. “Our fans love our Carne Asada because they can taste the care and culinary expertise that goes into this recipe from farm to bowl.”

Chipotle’s carne asada is prepared in small batches and seasoned with a special blend of spices before its cut into slices and topped with fresh-squeezed lime and cilantro.
