Chloe Fineman Says Elon Musk Made Her Cry When He Hosted SNL — Watch

Elon Musk made Chloe Fineman cry when he hosted Saturday Night Live in May 2021, the cast member has revealed.

“I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member he made cry, and he’s the host that made someone cry,” Fineman said Monday on TikTok. She was inspired to come clean after seeing Musk’s negative response to Dana Carvey’s impression of him this past weekend.

SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,” Musk wrote on X in response to a fan asking whether anyone found the impression funny. “Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further.”

So, what did Musk do to make Fineman “burst into tears”? As she recalls: “I stayed up all night writing the sketch. I was so excited. I came in, I asked you if you had any questions, and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.’ I waited for you to be like, ‘haha JK.’ No. Then you started pawing through my script, like flipping each page being like, ‘I didn’t laugh, not one time.'”

In the end, Fineman says the sketch — which she didn’t directly identify — ended up making it to air and was “fine.” She actually says that Musk was “really funny in it,” closing the TikTok with this message: “Have a little manners here, sir!”

Though Fineman deleted her TikTok shortly after posting it, Musk responded to a rip of the video posted to X. “Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs,” he wrote. “I was worried. I was like damn my SNL appearance is going to be so f—ing unfunny that it will make a crackhead sober!! But then it worked out in the end.”

Rumors of a host making SNL cast members cry first came up during Bowen Yang’s Aug. 11 appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. When asked by Andy Cohen about the worst behavior he’d ever seen from a host, Yang revealed that someone “made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday before the table read … because he hated the ideas.”
