Chloe the stolen French bulldog reunited with owner
A 10-month-old French bulldog, who was stolen from a downtown Vancouver tattoo parlour and art gallery Thursday, has been reunited with her owner.
The incident was recorded on surveillance camera at The Fall Tattooing & Artists' Gallery at 644 Seymour, when a woman asked owner Shaughnessy Keely if she could pet Chloe the bulldog.
Within 90 seconds, the woman had picked her up and walked out, while Keely was working at the till. Keely was distraught and shared video of the theft on Instagram in the hopes of identifying the thief and recovering her pet.
Vancouver police Sgt. Randy Fincham said in a statement Wednesday that news of the theft lit up social media and police received numerous calls identifying potential suspects.
"Early in the investigation, police were hot on the trail of the thief and balanced the delicate task of recovering the dog unharmed," said Fincham.
Fincham says the police investigation revealed Chloe’s theft may stem from a dispute between an employee at the tattoo shop and the dog’s original owner.
Fraser Valley Regional District Animal Control eventually found Chloe roaming around a residential neighbourhood in Abbotsford Tuesday afternoon and she was reunited with Keely Wednesday morning.
"Police are working to retrace Chloe’s steps following her escape from captors," said Fincham.
The investigation into Chloe’s theft is ongoing.
