Brothers cover house with 50,000 Christmas lights to raise money for charity

Two brothers have again created one of Britain's most festive Christmas homes.

Builders Lee and Paul Brailsford have spent 27 years turning their mum Rosemary's house in Bristol into an idyllic winter wonderland.

This year's display includes 50,000 lights as well as life-size Santas, snowmen, rope-light shapes, trains, elves and a large reindeer family in the garden.

A switch-on took place on Thursday at the family home in Brentry and it will be lit up every night through Christmas for charity.

Recognised as one of UK's largest private Christmas lights display, it takes six weeks to carefully piece it together.

The brothers have raised more than £90,000 for charity since they started the yearly display.

The cash goes to Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal which helps children at Bristol Children's Hospital.

The brothers said: ''This year we are doing our famous cookie cabin, with hot chocolates, raffles, cookies and cakes.''

Lee previously said: "We get so much support from people in the area because everyone knows us.

"We love raising money for charity but even if we weren't we'd still put the lights up, just because we love Christmas so much.”

Opening times to view the house are available on Facebook and people can donate to the charity appeal on Just Giving or through the collection boxes outside the property.

The home has appeared on Channel 4’s King of Christmas Lights and Channel 5's Britain's Crazy Christmas Lights.
