Christy's weather: Yukon warms up, extreme cold warnings in Foxe Basin

N.W.T. outlook

Periods of snowfall will remain in the north of the territory today with cooler temperatures near -20 C. Light flurries will also continue today in the Sahtu region, while further south, clear weather is expected.

The mild weather will remain for most of the territory, with highs in the minus single digits in the Sahtu and Dehcho. The Great Slave regions will remain slightly cooler in the minus teens.

Yukon outlook

Extremely warm weather will continue in the Yukon today, with highs climbing towards 3 C in Whitehorse this afternoon.

Although temperatures in the north will remain in the minus single digits, those temperatures will still be 5-10 C above normal for this time of year.

Light snowfall is in the forecast for the north of the territory, while clearing weather is expected further south.

Nunavut outlook

Clear and cold weather will continue in Nunavut today, with temperatures remaining in the mid -30s. The Kivalliq region will experience some windy weather today with gusts to 60 km/h from the north west.

Extreme cold warnings will remain for most of Foxe Basin today, with cold temperatures in the -40s and wind chills into the -50s.
