City Hall LRT stabbing: Calgary police release surveillance photo

Calgary police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who they believe is connected to a random stabbing attack at the City Hall LRT station.

Police say a man in his 50s was approached around 4:40 a.m. MT Tuesday by an unknown man while standing on the eastbound platform.

Police say a verbal altercation ensued and the man was stabbed. The suspect then fled eastbound towards Seventh Avenue and Third Street S.E.

The victim is in hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-40s, around 5'7" tall and 200 pounds. He was clean shaven and wearing a dark-coloured toque, green jacket, blue jeans and beige work boots. He was also carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Calgary police or Crime Stoppers.
