City park rangers investigating after $19K in trees cut down
An investigation is underway after someone cut down $19,000 worth of trees on parkland near Valleyview Point in west Edmonton.
City officials won’t give details on their investigation, but said the trees were cut down without the city’s permission.
Bylaw staff are now looking into who cut down the trees and why.
Once the culprit is found, they will either have to restore the parkland to its original condition or pay a hefty fine, said park ranger James Brooke.
“It’s part of our ecosystem and trees were planted for a reason. Basically, you’re messing with nature and the parkland is there for everyone to enjoy.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the city park rangers.
