City selects locations for 3 new skateparks in Calgary

The City of Calgary has announced the location of three new skateparks and is looking to the public to help design them.

The city says it will be starting work this year on three new skateparks in Calgary.

They will be built in the communities of Chinook Park/Kelvin Grove/Eagle Ridge (CKE), Huntington Hills and Southwood.

City spokesperson Zev Klymochko says it will be a big boost for the sport because currently there is only one outdoor skatepark.

The city plans to build five other skateparks in the future as part of its Skateboard Amenities Strategy.

The locations include Bowness, Edgemont, New Brighton, Deer Run and Midnapore.

The city is asking for input on the designs at a public meeting on April 30 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the former Centennial Planetarium located at 701 11th St. S.W.
