The City of St. John's has announced five candidates for its Ward 3 councillor seat, with a byelection scheduled to begin late next week.
The candidates are Scott Fitzgerald, Walter Harding, Mark House, Paul Morgan, and Greg Noseworthy.
In a press release, Jackie O'Brien, the city's communications officer, said the election period will run from Oct. 18 to Nov. 5.
Ward 3 includes several streets around the Mundy Pond area and Topsail Road. Residents can verify if their address is within Ward 3 through the city's website.
O'Brien says residents should receive their voting kits in the mail on Oct. 18. Completed kits can be mailed back to the city or dropped off at city hall before election day. Additionally, a ballot centre will be available at the Village Mall on Nov. 5.
The byelection will fill the vacant seat on the city council left by Jamie Korab after he was elected as a Liberal MHA in August, replacing Tom Osborne.
