City tows hundreds of vehicles during parking ban

The City of Edmonton issued 625 tickets and towed 318 vehicles during the two-day parking ban on bus routes for snow clearing this weekend.

The ban — on all bus routes — ended at noon yesterday.

“Following the last parking ban, we were able to identify additional locations where compliance was low, and that is where we focused our efforts,” said Erin Blaine, parking enforcement coordinator. “We would prefer to see even higher compliance from some areas of the city."

Snow-clearing crews are now moving into neighbourhoods to start blading around the clock.

While there's no parking ban in neighborhoods, the city wants vehicles removed so crews do a better job.

During the first parking ban this winter last month bylaw officers issued 626 tickets, but towed only 36 vehicles.
