Claresholm man accused of sexually assaulting 5 teenaged girls

A man in Claresholm, Alta., is accused of sexually assaulting five teenaged girls, RCMP say.

Police began investigating on Nov. 15 when five victims in their mid- to late-teens came forward with allegations that they were sexually assaulted numerous times over an 11-month period, RCMP said in a release Friday.

The accused man's name is not being released in order to protect the identities of the victims, who were known to the man, an RCMP spokesperson told CBC News.

The man has been charged with six counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference and eight counts of sexual exploitation.

Claresholm is 130 kilometres south of Calgary.

The accused will appear in provincial court in Fort Macleod on Dec. 6.
