Where and when

1Rebel’s Southbank studio, on Sunday at 2pm. There are up to seven Reshape Full Body & Abs classes at the studio on weekend days.

What’s the drill

Not for the faint-hearted (or those who are still easing into their 2020 fitness resolutions). Reshape Full Body & Abs is a full throttle, 45-minute class targeting every muscle in the body, and involving fast intervals and uphill sprints on a treadmill, followed by sections on the floor or bench, doing a combination of bodyweight exercises (planks, mountain climbers, press ups) and exercises using kit like dumbbells and kettlebells. Sounds simple — but your abs (in fact, everything) will be burning.

The skinny

With very little pause in between intervals, expect to sweat in places you didn’t know you could. But the endorphin high when you finish is (almost) worth it.

Sweat count

High — make sure you rehydrate.

The social network

Located just off the Southbank, it’s quiet at the weekends, but during the week has a heavy footfall of lawyers from the slick firms just over the river.

Instructor appeal

Lara Rose has the energy of three instructors — which makes her the perfect Ms Motivator for those who are finding their stride. Her encouragement made a difference — really — during the hardest rounds, and she gives clear and easy to follow instructions.

What to pack

Single-use plastic is banned from the Southbank studio, so make sure you bring a water bottle to refill at the taps in reception (if you forget, you can borrow one). Towels are provided.

The sounds

Pacy hip hop that matches the race of your pulse.

Locker-room chat

Stylish brushed chrome lockers in a spacious changing room with plenty of mirror space. There’s an iron for those who need to smarten up before heading straight to the office, GHD hairdryers and straighteners, capacious waterfall showers, moisturiser, deodorant and hair products. In other words: they’ve got it all. There’s a cafe dispensing coffee, chai, smoothies and shakes.

Tips for first-timers

Arrive 10 minutes early for a briefing, and pick one of the treadmills near the door so you don’t feel too exposed.

The afterburn

You’ll feel it tomorrow — especially in that core. Make sure you stick around for the post-class stretch to minimise soreness.

From £16 per class. 7 Upper Ground, SE1; 1rebel.com
