Some dogs struggle with the most basic commands, such as “sit” or “stay.” But one exemplary dog has shown he understands commands very well, after he was filmed shopping with his owner.

In the video, which was first spotted on Reddit and then uploaded to YouTube, Hali the border collie can be seen strolling into his neighbourhood Canadian Tire. What’s he shopping for? Dog treats, of course.

Once inside the story, Hali selects several bags of treats and drops them into a shopping basket as his owner exclaims, “Good boy!”

The pair then line up at the till. When they reach the front of the line, Hali passes his treats to the cashier. The self-sufficient pooch also hands some money to the cashier, who awards him with a treat.

It appears that dogs are all too happy to do their best human impression when treats are on the line, as can be observed with this ice cream-loving golden retriever and this hungry pit bull.

And who are we to judge? After all, a dog’s gotta eat.
