Clicker Alert: 'The Last of Us Part 1' Is Officially Available to Buy on PC

It was nice these past couple of Sunday nights to get a full night's sleep without dreams of turning into a mushroom monster. The Last of Us season finale was emotionally damaging, so the franchise was kind enough to give me some time to heal. But that time ended after just 15 days—because The Last of Us Part I is now available to play on PC.

For many fans, like myself, this will be the first time experiencing The Last of Us as a video game, instead of a televised HBO drama. Smart timing! For anyone returning to the game since its rerelease last September, there's also a new speedrun mode, so you can burn through the story quickly. (To me, any mushroom virus apocalypse should be set to speedrun mode.) I'm not sitting around as the fungal horde comes to give me a big ol' smooch.

Previously, almost everything made by Naughty Dog—the video game studio behind The Last of Us—was a PlayStation exclusive. We're talking games that you probably had no idea were also developed by the same creative team as Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted—the last of which saw a film release in 2022 starring Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland. But if you wanted to play The Last of Us before, you either had to have the original game from its 2013 release on PlayStation 3, or forked out a boatload of cash on the new PlayStation 5 to play it there. With an official release on PC and Steam, the remastered game is now available for anyone, anywhere. Just don't get mad that I've chosen to play video games all spring with my two best friends, Joel and Ellie.
