A cause of death has reportedly been determined for Christina Sandera.

PEOPLE previously confirmed the death of Clint Eastwood's longtime girlfriend on July 19, with the Oscar winner saying in a statement per The Hollywood Reporter, “Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much."

A representative for the Monterey County Health Department told the New York Post on Tuesday, July 23, that Sandera died at age 61 of a heart attack.

The death certificate listed cardiac arrhythmia, an abnormality in the timing or pattern of the heartbeat, as Sandera's immediate cause of death, per the Post. Atherosclerotic coronary artery disease was listed as an additional condition leading to her death.

Eastwood, 94, and Sandera began dating in 2014. They were photographed grocery shopping together in June of that year, as seen in photos obtained by the Daily Mail.

Sandera accompanied the veteran actor-director to many events, especially pertaining to his films. They made their first public appearance together at the 2015 Academy Awards, when his movie American Sniper was nominated for six awards, including Best Picture.

In 2016, the couple appeared together at a screening of Eastwood's film Sully at the Directors Guild of America. The following year, they went to the Cannes Film Festival together.

Sandera also joined Eastwood and his entire family — including three of his kids, his granddaughter and his first wife, Maggie Johnson — at the premiere of his 2018 film The Mule.

Eastwood and Sandera, who were very private about their relationship, reportedly met when she was working as a hostess at his property, the Mission Ranch Hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., on the Monterey peninsula where Eastwood has lived for decades.

While Eastwood may be an A-list actor and filmmaker, his partner of 10 years maintained a more low-key profile. Aside from her relationship with Eastwood, not much is known about her and she was not on social media.

Eastwood also eschews the spotlight, and the couple opted for a quiet life together in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a small coastal town in which Eastwood also formerly served as the mayor.

Prior to his relationship with Sandera, Eastwood had been married twice: to model Maggie Johnson from 1953 to 1987 and to news anchor Dina Ruiz from 1996 to 2004. He's also had several high-profile relationships outside of his two marriages, including long-term romances with Titanic actress Frances Fisher and his The Gauntlet costar Sondra Locke.

With his past partners, he's welcomed eight children, including actor Scott Eastwood.
