The Clueless reboot series centred on the character Dionne has been picked up by US streaming service Peacock.

The currently-untitled show is described as being "a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fuelled look" at LA in 2020, and will explore what happens when former lead character Cher disappears.

Stepping into her shoes, Dionne has to deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl while also trying to solve the mystery of what happened to her friend.

The new series is written by Will & Grace's Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey, with American Gothic creator Corinne Brinkerhoff serving as executive producer. The reboot is still in the early stages of development and it's currently unclear who will feature in the cast.

The original Clueless film was released in 1995, with Alicia Silverstone starring as Cher and Stacey Dash as Dionne. Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto and Brittany Murphy also starred.

From 1996 until 1999, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and then UPN for three seasons. Rachel Blanchard was cast as Cher, while Dash reprised the role of Dionne.

This isn't the first time someone has tried to reboot Clueless as a TV series, as it was revealed last year that Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver was working with Glow's Marquita Robinson to try and bring it back to the small screen. However, nothing came of the project.
