Cold weather records broken across Manitoba
At least 19 communities in Manitoba set new record low temperatures overnight as fiercely cold weather continued to hang over the province.
The coldest place in the province was actually Lynn Lake, which hit –28.4 C. But Environment Canada doesn't have historical data for there, so it is not known if that is a record or not.
Winnipeg fell to –12.6 C but that was not a record. It was colder in 2000, when the mercury dropped to –14.5 C.
Temperatures are forecast to rise as the week progresses, even reaching into the double digits of warmth by Easter weekend in southern Manitoba.
CBC Meteorologist John Sauder is calling for daytime highs of 7 C, 13 C, and 14 C from Friday to Sunday, in the Winnipeg area.
