Collision claims three and seriously injures two more on highway north of Kamloops

CLEARWATER — RCMP say three people are dead and two others are seriously injured in a crash north of Kamloops, B.C.

Const. James Ward with the B.C. Highway Patrol says a report came in Wednesday morning about a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 5 just south of Clearwater.

Ward says multiple units responded to the crash site, where they found three people dead and two others in critical condition, but the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

Highway patrol says initial reports indicate two pickup trucks travelling in opposite directions clipped one another, striking a third vehicle that spun out into a ditch.

Ward said the stretch of highway would be closed for several hours while a collision reconstruction team conducted an investigation.

Two other drivers were killed in separate crashes a week apart in early February on the same stretch of highway.
