Collision involving motorcycle shuts down New Circle Road during rush hour
The outer loop of New Circle Road was shut down at rush hour Tuesday afternoon because of a serious collision involving a motorcycle, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.
The collision, which involved a motorcycle and two passenger vehicles, was reported on the outer loop of New Circle Road at Versailles Road at 4:54 p.m., said Lt. Brandon Helm, of the Lexington Police Department.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, he said. No other injuries were reported.
The outer loop of New Circle was shut downbetween Georgetown and Versailles roads for several hours but had reopened by about 8:30 p.m., according to LexWrecks, the Lexington Traffic Management Center’s account on the social media platform X.
The Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene.
