Snowmobiler, 21, dead after crash with minivan in Humber Valley

A 21-year-old man is dead following a collision between a snowmobile and a taxi on Newfoundland's west coast early Sunday morning.

Corner Brook RCMP say the crash between the snowmobile, carrying two people, and a minivan with five passengers onboard occurred near the entrance to the Humber Valley Resort near Little Rapids at about 4 a.m.

The unnamed driver of the snowmobile was taken to the Western Memorial Hospital with severe injuries and was pronounced dead around 12 p.m. Sunday.

The other passenger of the snowmobile was also taken to the hospital, along with one passenger in the minivan.

Police have not provided any updates on their condition.

RCMP officials said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
