There's no shortage of color predictions when it comes to the design world. For 2020, Pantone gave us Classic Blue, Benjamin Moore spotlit a take on Millennial Pink, and Sherwin-Williams also went blue—albeit darker—with Naval. But if hundreds of working designers have anything to say about it, none of those are the color we'll be seeing everywhere this year—instead, they're seeing green. Emerald green, specifically.

That is, according to 1stdibs annual trend report, for which it surveys the hundreds of interior designers who use the online vintage marketplace. House Beautiful got a first look at this year's survey, and in it, 32% of respondents say green is the color of 2020—blue comes in second, with 29% of the vote.

That's not all 1stdibs asked, either—the survey also includes questions about materials, sourcing, and clients. In keeping with 2020 trends House Beautiful predicted late last year, natural materials are all the rage, with a 7% increase in designers predicting we'll see more wood in 2020 and many citing natural motifs and patterns as well as materials. As for finishes, 1stdibs designers predict the brass craze dying down, much like Jenny Kirschner told House Beautiful late last year.

Perhaps most interestingly, the survey revealed that designers make more than half of their purchases online—a sure sign of the many sources available through ecommerce now. Beyond that, 49% of designers say they shop through Instagram.
