Columbia shooting suspect involved in multi-vehicle crash while being pursued

A suspected shooter was involved in a multi-vehicle collision in a police pursuit, the Columbia Police Department announced.

A domestic-related shooting happened on Blossom Street just before 11 a.m. Saturday.

The suspected shooter left the scene. While being pursued by police and deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, he was involved in a multi-vehicle crash at Hazelwood and Garners Ferry Roads, just blocks south of the East Pointe Plaza shopping complex.

Police said the shooting was not life-threatening. There is no word on whether there were injuries in the shooting or the collision.

Police are investigating. No additional details were immediately available.
