Comedian and Desus & Mero writer Ziwe Fumudoh lands her own Showtime variety series

Ziwe Fumudoh is well on her way to that mononymous life.
The comedian, also known as simply Ziwe, is getting her own variety series on Showtime, the network announced Wednesday. A24 will produce the series.
Fumudoh has been a rising star on the comedy scene for the last few years thanks to projects like her YouTube series Baited, in which she tricks guests into uncomfortable conversations about race. She is currently a writer for Showtime's Desus & Mero and Our Cartoon President.
"I am beyond excited to make my dream a reality with the brilliant minds at Showtime and A24!" Fumudoh said in a statement. "I can’t wait to make an iconic show with even more iconic guests."
Fumudoh and Showtime cleverly announced the series through a back-and-forth on Twitter, with the network's official account tweeting at her, "Would you be interested in your own show on Showtime? You'd be an iconic host."

"Ziwe has clearly emerged as an auteur voice in comedy and culture," Vinnie Malhotra, Executive Vice President, Nonfiction Programming at Showtime, said in a statement. "She has turned all of our heads here at Showtime, and we’re excited to be the home for her new series as she continues to grow her edgy and hilarious brand of commentary on race, politics and everything in-between."
No premiere date, or title, for the variety series has yet been set. In the meantime, you can begin catching up on Fumudoh's comedy with the first episode of Baited, below.
