At its April 21 meeting, McMurrich/Monteith council discussed quotes from electricians to wire in the duct heater at the community centre in Sprucedale.

The council had received three quotes.

The first quote was from McDonald Electrical Services to wire in one 20-kilowatt in-line duct heater that is part of the geothermal heating system … materials, permits, inspections and labour was quoted at $1,757.57 plus applicable taxes.

The second quote was $2,189 plus applicable taxes and ESA inspection would be extra.

The third quote was listed as $2,859.35 after taxes and did include the ESA inspection.

Coun. Dan O’Halloran said that ESA inspections are critical and that he was glad that at least two of the quotes had included it in their prices.

“The work has to be done and that’s the only place it can be fed from an economical way of doing it,” said O’Halloran. “We have to get into the generator, we’re looking at thousands of dollars because our generator isn’t powerful enough to support it.”

Council unanimously accepted the bid from McDonald Electrical Services for $1,757.57 plus applicable taxes.
