Comox Valley community updates: April 18, 2024

Earth Day is on Monday, April 22, 2024. Here is a round up of related events going on in the Valley:

Active transportation projects in the Comox Valley will benefit from the province’s Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants program.

These projects include the Royston Road multi-use path, Beaufort Avenue sidewalk upgrades in Comox, 5th Street bike lanes in Courtenay and a Lake Trail multi-use pathway connecting Webb Road to Lake Trail School.

The Discourse covered the Royston Road project and another large project, The Courtenay to Cumberland Connector, in February. According to the City of Courtenay’s Active Transportation Network Plan Implementation Strategy, the Royston Road path will be 725 metres long and three metres wide and is set to include buffered pedestrian lanes or a roadside multi-use path.
