Condo unit gutted, residents evacuated during Mississauga fire

An overnight fire razed a two-level Mississauga condo unit early Saturday, with firefighters continuing to battle hot spots in the building four hours later.

Residents called 911 after seeing flames shooting from a window at 3055 Tomken Rd. around 5:30 a.m.

No one was inside the unit when the blaze broke out, a Peel Regional Police spokeswoman said despite initial reports that a family had been trapped. There were no reported injuries.

The other residents living in the building have been evacuated.

A Mississauga fire services spokesman would not comment on the extent of the damage.
