With Canada experiencing its worst wildfire year on record in 2023, and concerns growing over climate change potentially making for longer and more destructive seasons, the amount of online misconceptions surrounding the events has also risen exponentially.
That's why Jaclyn Whittal, a meteorologist at The Weather Network, went directly to the source for answers that will put those myths to bed, and confirm what information is the scientific truth.
She spoke with Mike Flannigan, B.C. innovation research chair in Predictive Services, Emergency Management and Fire Science in the Faculty of Science at Thompson Rivers University.
